A Year with Jesus: Daily Readings and Reflections On Jesus' Own WordsThis is a short daily devotional book, focusing on the teaching/words of Jesus. The idea is to help the Christian have a daily time of reflection and meditation on The Bible. The words of Jesus begin the devotion for each day. Each devotion should only take about 5-10 minutes to read. There are ten themes that this book focuses on.
1. How to Discover a lasting Joy
2. The need for Meekness and Humility
3. The importance of Love and Grace
4. The essential need for Truth
5. How to deal with Doubt
6. The Fruit of the Spirit
7. Understanding Grace and Merit
8. Living a life aimed at Honesty and Faithfulness
The premise of this book is great, however, the thoughts in each devotional don’t always support the title. A lot of good material here, but a little more organization would have been better for a better flow.

I also did not like that the book flipped from one version of the Bible to another. The versions are somewhat conglomerated into each daily reading. I believe up to 8 different versions of the Bible could be used.

I personally believe that this devotional’s premise of using the Words of Jesus as a daily encouragement would be awesome… I just felt that this book lacked a little continuity and organization… Maybe a “revised edition” would cure that!

I received this book free from the publisher through the BookLook Bloggers <http://booklookbloggers.com> book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review.
